We've had a great summer so far, but it's not quite over yet and we are sending the summer off with a bang! Thurs, Aug. 4 & 11 @ 10:30AM • Tunes & Tales Explore Oceans of Possibility during this musical storytime! Special guest reader, Linda Slaybaugh will read stories while local musicians play along. Get your hands clapping as you enjoy this fan favorite event, back for another year. Thurs, Aug. 4, 11 & 18 @ 5:15PM • Music at the Library: AMFS Chamber Music Series A crowd favorite, the Aspen Music Festival & School Chamber Music Series is back at the library. Each week different musicians from AMFS will be at the library presenting a spectacular concert. See the stars of tomorrow! Fri, Aug. 12 @ 5PM • Date Night: Dinner and a Play Grab a date, a friend, or come by yourself to enjoy dinner alongside a fabulous new play! Fateful Love is a new work by local actress and playwright Morgan Walsh. The play examines the relationship of Georgiana Hyde Lees and WB Yeats, and how their belief in the Occult saved their marriage and informed their life together. It also explores their friendship with Dorothy and Ezra Pound and the lives of women in the early/mid 20th Century. Seating is limited for this performance, and registration is required. Wed, Aug. 17 @ 5:30PM • Let’s Talk About It: The Final Revival of Opal and Nev Grab your book club and a copy of The Final Revival of Opal & Nev and join Mary Fox as she leads a discussion of the 2022 AspenWords Literary Prize winning book. A faux-oral history of music, civil rights, women's rights, and personal and cultural tragedies from the early seventies through the Trump 20teens, this is a discussion you won’t want to miss. Sat, Aug. 20 @ 5PM - Sun, Aug. 21 @10AM • The First Ever Camp Out at the Library Whether you are a camping pro or have never been camping before, this is a camping adventure for everyone. Grab your camping gear, or borrow some from the library, and join us for camping tips & tricks, games, stories, food and more. We will even have a catered pancake breakfast! The First Ever Camp Out celebrates our recent grant award from Colorado Parks & Wildlife Outdoor Equity Program, allowing us the addition of camping equipment to our Library of Things, available for check out for one week at a time. Due to the limited size of the Library Lawn, registration is required. Tues, Aug. 23 @ 5:30PM • Author Talk with Sandy Munro Asen local Sandy Munro will visit the library with his latest memoir, Aspen Unstrung, in tow. "Aspen Unstrung is a haiku drenched in music about lives lived to the fullest." Jim Hougan, John Case Series. Arriving in 1969, Sandy and his family made a home in Aspen and thrived in a community unlike any other. Esteemed math teacher, banjo player, owner of the only music store in town, and Colorado Book Award winner, he has reveled in Aspen's quirkiness ever since. Looking for something else?
