The Basalt Regional Library partners with Basalt Community Gardens and the CSU Extension in bringing techniques and gardening expertise to our patrons. Through a generous contribution from Lake Valley Seed Co in Boulder, Colorado, we are distributing Kitchen Garden seed packets-- and more! Feeling adventurous? Would you like to harvest your own watermelon for summer picnics? We have those seeds! Please check out the purple cart for daily distributions.
Gardening at the Library will host on-line and in-person Kitchen Gardens A-Z. Soil prep, how to design a vegetable patch, and direct sowing your Kitchen Garden seeds will guide you step by step. Stop by the Library for pre-packaged Kitchen Gardens seeds. We have seeds to round out your vegetable plot or if you want more of a challenge, try some of our specialty seeds!
This spring and summer, the BRL will maintain a garden plot at the Basalt Community Gardens. All helpers are welcome! If you would like to sign up for a weekly shift--or more--please contact firstname.lastname@example.org . Experience not required!
The garden is part of the CSU Extension “Grow and Give” project and is maintained by BRL volunteers and staff, and is generously provided by the Basalt Community Garden.
“Let no one be discouraged by the thought of how much there is to learn. Looking back upon nearly thirty years of gardening (the earlier part of it in groping ignorance with scant means of help), I can remember no part of it that was not full of pleasure and encouragement.” Gertrude Jekyll (1843-1932)
