October Featured Artist: Kristen Doyle
"If I had three lifetimes ahead of me, I still would not have enough time to pursue all of the processes, mediums, & styles, I’m interested in. Inspired by the natural world, I use whatever medium I’m in love with at the moment to express my fascination. Recently this medium has been a combination of pyrography (wood burning) and colored pencil. In addition to fine art and traditional handcrafts, I enjoy functional creative outlets such as graphic design, scientific illustration, stained glass & quilting pattern design, and developing educational illustrations & installations.
Originally from Michigan, I moved to Colorado in 2008 to study at Colorado State University. After 4 years of bouncing between art and science I graduated with a B.S. in Fish & Wildlife Biology. Since then, I have worked for environmental research and education organizations studying various wildlife species and sharing that knowledge through environmental education. I’m currently settled in Carbondale, Colorado and work for Roaring Fork Conservancy in the near-by town of Basalt. My interests outside of art and environmental work include mountain biking, camping, science fiction & fantasy novels, and heavy metal." -Kristen Doyle About the Art Displays
Art plays an important part in community outreach at Basalt Regional Library. Through our visual arts program, we host monthly art exhibits in the lobby display case and showcase larger artwork within the library that rotates throughout the year. These exhibits expose the community to new art forms and creative ideas while providing exhibition opportunities to local artists. Our Art Coordinator selects exhibits based on artistic quality, variety of exhibits, and the suitability of format for each exhibit space.
In addition to providing exhibition opportunities for local artists, we offer a variety of art programs for kids. Check out our children’s art programs and join us for creativity and fun! How to Display
If you would like your art to be considered for exhibition, please email hcondon@basaltlibrary.org with images of your work, an artist statement, and a brief bio. We are seeking artists to display their work in 2019! |
