Missy Prudden, Woody Creek Journals I am a traveler; to places both near and far. Each place wakens all my senses …the colors, shapes, light, and sounds. Each morning I am engaged as I watch the morning light transform the fields, bushes and mountainsides. Birds are starting their morning routine which varies by the season. A deer might grace the yard for a bite from the garden, a chipmunk follow its trail from the woodpile to the bird feeder, and a fox scout the field for mice. As I travel further afield there is beauty to discover in mountains, streams, and forests. There is beauty in the smallest flower, granite boulder and gnarled tree. I feel the breeze and take in the scents of the mountain air. When I journey away from my home, my whole being is charged. There are new languages, foods, cultures, buildings, and landscapes. I become immersed and thirsty to take it all in. My world expands. I am so alive. I am always so sad to leave, but bring so much home with me. This is my art. These are my journals. |

Laurie McBride, Old Snowmass Watercolors I studied art at Stanford University and lived and studied in Paris where my godmother Marion Pike also lived. She was a fabulous artist and was always a great influence and teacher. For many years I studied with Anstis Lundy, where my great love of watercolor began. Through the years I have participated in numerous art classes at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass Village. I live on a beautiful cattle ranch in Old Snowmass, Colorado where I have a studio adjacent to my garden which is an inspiration for many of my paintings. We spend a good deal of time in Kenya with friends which inspires all the animals I paint. My paintings have been displayed and sold at Cafe Bernard, the Aspen Chapel, the Art Base in Basalt and Alpine Bank/Basalt. I was selected for the Annual Colorado Watercolor Show in 2011 and 2013. My paintings are in private collections throughout the U.S. |
